Welcome to Ric Genthe Photography

Welcome to the studio

Capturing the present. Reminiscing the past.

A Wisconsin-born illustrator and art director turned photographer, Ric captures the landscapes, history and hidden beauty of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa.

Outside of photography, he enjoy trout fishing and watercolor painting, both of which keep me connected to the landscapes and heritage that inspire me. He is fortunate to share life with his wife, Sharon, and their adventurous golden retriever, Ruby, who often joins him on journeys to capture the Midwest through his lens. Above all, he hope his photographs convey the same feeling and spirit he experience in the moment they’re captured.

If you can’t find what you were looking for, please send a message; he have a large archive with thousands of pictures. Or, he can assist you in creating that special picture you have in mind. Just let him know… I enjoy a challenge.

About

Daisy Sadie Ric

Meet Ric Genthe

Ric was born and raised in the heart of Southwest Wisconsin, where he developed a deep appreciation for the clear trout streams, rolling hills, and rich history of the Driftless Region. After studying Commercial Art in Madison, he went on to enjoy a 40+ year career as an illustrator and art director, sharpening his eye for detail, design, and composition.

What began as a pastime in photography grew into a true passion during semi-retirement. Today, Ric devotes his time to capturing the landscapes, people, and stories of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, and Iowa. His work often transforms simple moments or utilitarian projects into works of art, as first discovered when a client asked him to photograph agricultural businesses.

Drawn to the beauty of history, Ric frequently focuses his lens on weathered barns, forgotten tools, and relics once essential to daily life. His photography honors these subjects by capturing the present while evoking the past, inviting viewers to see grace and meaning in what time has worn down.

Beyond photography, Ric enjoys trout fishing and watercolor painting, both of which keep him connected to the land and heritage that inspire him. He shares life’s adventures with his wife, Sharon, and their fur-baby, Ruby, who often accompanies him on his journeys across the Midwest. Ric hopes every image he creates conveys the same feeling and spirit he experienced in the moment it was captured.
